AYDP Warrnambool 2014
Two hundred and forty-eight students from the Warrnambool district worked with nine Olympians at the Active Youth Development Program on June 3, 2014.
The students from year six were given a unique insight into the Olympic Games as Olympians shared stories about how they became involved in sport and the positive impact of sport on their lives.
During the Warrnambool program the students were coached in their preferred sport by an Olympian. Sports included athletics, badminton, basketball, swimming, table tennis and volleyball. In the afternoon Olympians were combined with the local Clubs to run a “Come and Try” session to showcase the Club and inspire the students to take up their sport.
“The program allows the students to get a personal sporting tip from an Olympian that they will cherish for life,” Olympic Silver and dual Bronze medallist and Victorian Olympic Council Vice President Nicole Livingstone OAM said.
