Ballarat AYDP - November 21, 2013
Two hundred students from the Ballarat district worked with 12 Olympians, four of whom are local heroes, at the Active Youth Development Program at Ballarat Grammar on November 21.
The students from years eight and nine were given a unique insight into the Olympic Games as the Olympians share stories about how they became involved in sport and the positive impact of sport on their lives.
Students were coached in their preferred sport by an Olympian. Sports include athletics, badminton, basketball, canoeing, football, rowing, table tennis and volleyball.
In the afternoon Olympians combined with the local Clubs to run a “Come and Try” session to showcase their sport and the Club.
“The program allows the students to get a personal sporting tip from an Olympian that they will cherish for life,” Olympic Silver and Bronze medallist and Victorian Olympic Council Vice President Nicole Livingstone OAM said.
