Carrigan retires, Tasmania mountain bike home 03 December 2008
Australian cycling continues its post-Olympics transition with Sara Carrigan retiring and the announcement of a new home for cross-country mountain bike.
Carrigan's decision, while no great surprise, makes her the latest Beijing Games team member to either retire or take an extended break.
Dual Olympic rowing gold medallist Nick Green will lead the Australian Olympic Team to the 2012 Games in London following his appointment as Chef de Mission today.
The AOC Executive Board endorsed Green’s appointment at a meeting in Melbourne.
Young track cyclist Jack Bobridge will have to change his priorities after a world-class performance on the weekend at the Oceania championships.
Bobridge posted a time of four minutes 18.80 seconds to lap fellow Olympian Mark Jamieson and win the 4000m individual pursuit at his home track in Adelaide.
Gretel Tippett might be the younger sister of Adelaide Crows forward Kurt and Brisbane Lions rookie Joel, but the 15-year-old is making her own waves on the basketball court. [more]
