The Olympic Flame Summer Sports
Since the first Olympic Games, Athens 1896, there have been many changes to the sports on the summer Olympic program. Today there are 28 sports with seven having multiple disciplines.

Winter Olympic Games Winter Sports
The first Winter Olympic Games, Chamonix 1924, had six sports on the program and 16 events. Today the number of sports has only increased by one to seven but the number of events has increased to 84.

Tug of War Discontinued Sports
There are 14 sports that have been previously included on the Olympic program, but were dropped at different times over the last century. Some of these sports no longer have the same significance on an international level and would seem very out of place at an Olympic Games today.
