40 Olympians enlisted in WWI and 3 made the ultimate sacrifice. Nine medallists enlisted. Many fought and then went on to Olympic glory and some competed either side of the Great War.
Age is no barrier
Three Olympians competed before their 14th birthdays while three athletes competed after turning 60.
Females bridge gender gap
Australia has had a steady increase in female representation at the Games, finally reaching 52% female majority at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games after reaching a 50:50 gender balance at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Ten female track athletes have become Olympic champions in athletics winning 15 gold between them.
