The Australian Olympic Committee invites you to select one student in Year 11 or 12 to receive the prestigious Pierre de Coubertin Award which celebrates the Olympic spirit and the ideals of sport and sportsmanship. The AOC has your school listed as a recent participant in this awards program. Student Nomination Forms have already been posted to your school.
The Pierre de Coubertin Awards are named after the founder of the modern Olympic Games, Baron Pierre de Coubertin. The awards take place on an annual basis to recognise senior secondary students who demonstrate the values which are consistent within Olympic movement and sporting endeavour. Each nominee must actively participate in the school’s physical education program with a consistently positive attitude.
The State Presentation and Student Olympic Academy will be held on Friday the 25th of June 2010 at Sydney Olympic Park. However, numbers attending the Student Olympic Academy will be strictly limited to the first 100 students nominated. The Olympic Academy (students only) will be followed by the State Presentation at Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre, to which parents and teachers will be invited. The schedule and details regarding the Academy will be provided upon receiving the Nomination Form. Both the Olympic Academy and State Presentation are free of charge.
In order to be eligible to attend the Student Olympic Academy and State Presentation, all Nominations must be received by close of business on Friday 28 May 2010. Nominations received after this date will be processed and the Pierre de Coubertin Award Certificate forwarded to your school for presentation in due course.
We look forward to receiving your nominations for the Pierre de Coubertin Award. Nominations are still open until the end of the year for the 2010 Pierre de Coubertin Award Program. These Forms need to be completed and sent in with your artwork or literary piece to the NSW Olympic Council, PO Box 312 St Leonards 1590. |
