Wildcard Poppy claims World Vert Championships

11 September 2017

SKATEBOARDING: Poppy Olsen has impressed the skateboarding world over the weekend, taking out the Vert World Championship as a wild card in Nanjing, China.

Fresh off a bronze medal at the 2017 X-Games in Minneapolis, the 17-year-old from Manly defeated American Arianna Carmona and Poland's Amelia Brodka to take the top spot on the podium.

Olsen was joined by fellow Aussie teammate, 19-year-old Amar Hadid who finished in 5th place.

Olsen, the number one ranked Australian Skateboarding Federation Vert rider, took out the Australian title earlier this year.

The 2016 WCS Girls Combi Pro Champion will look to make her Olympic debut as Skateboarding makes its start on the programme at the Toyko 2020 Games.
