Silver for Skinner and Adams in first event of 2018

12 March 2018

Shooting: World number one and current Olympic champion Catherine Skinner has taken silver in the Women’s Trap at the ISSF World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The first competition of the season kicked off on March 1st in Guadalajara, opening the 2018 shooting sport season and delivering the first 15 gold medals of 2018 in three disciplines – pistol, rifle, and shotgun.

Skinner was extremely pleased with her silver medal performance.

"I’m happy with the result. I started rough but I was able to recover," Skinner said.

"The bigger event has changed the dynamic, giving you a chance to recover after a bad round."

Skinner shared the podium with USA athletes Ashley Carroll (gold), and Ariel Alease Skinner (bronze).

In the final event of the Guadalajara World Cup on Sunday, Rio Olympian Paul Adams also claimed a silver medal in the Skeet Men’s final after an impressive duel with USA's two-time Olympic Champion Vincent Hancock.

Adams matched Hancock's performance in the final, equalling the World Record of 59 hits out of 60 clays. In the shoot off for first place, it took six additional hits for Hancock to win gold.

Italy's Tammaro Cassandro placed third with a score of 49 out of 60 hits.
