Member sports must be 2015 WADA Code compliant: Coates
18 August 2014
AOC: The President of the Australian Olympic Committee, John Coates, has advised all Olympic sporting organisations of proposed changes to the AOC’s Anti-Doping Rules and their need to be compliant with the new WADA Code which comes into effect on January 1st 2015.
In a statement today Coates said: "At its meeting on August 7, the AOC Executive approved in principle changes to the AOC Anti-Doping By-Law to make it compliant with the new WADA Code which comes into effect on January 1 2015.
The AOC 2015 Anti-Doping By-Law will be finally approved by the AOC Executive Meeting in Melbourne on November 21 this year and by which time the amendments to the ASADA Act to make it 2015 Code compliant should be passed by Parliament.
While the AOC does not expect that these amendments will necessitate any further changes to its 2015 Anti-Doping By-Law, the Executive considered it prudent to wait and check.
As a condition of membership, National Olympic Committees and International Federations require that the Anti-Doping rules of their member National Federations are 2015 Code compliant."
