It’s been snowing!!! Its snowed over a metre in Leogang where I am training at the moment. Got an amazing powder day yesterday and the day before. Now we finally have enough snow to start setting up features to train on. Hopefully when it stops snowing we can set up a roller pack and a pump track that we can train on.

A midnight phone call from the other side of the world delivered the best news for teenager Lachlan Porter. The Snowy Mountains biathlete was in Pokljuka, Slovenia preparing for the Biathlon Alpen Cup when his dad told him his selection wait for the Australian Winter Youth Olympic Team was over.

We arrived on Tuesday at Tahoe Donner near Lake Tahoe which is where I am staying till the 8th of January, that same day we went for a really long rollerski with a local club who were generous enough to lend us some gear to use (we thought we would be skiing).

Lighting of the Torch for the 1st ever Winter Youth Olympic Games. The flame is now on its way to the host city of Innsbruck, where it will embark on a country-wide torch relay on 27 December before returning for the official opening of the Games on 13 January.

The flame for the first Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria, was lit today in Athens, marking the first time in modern Olympic history the flame has been lit for three Olympic events taking place in the same city.
