4th Australian Youth Olympic Festival

Medals - A new look medal was introduced this year with an image of Sydney on the face and the official AYOF logo on the reverse side.

The medal ribbon was embroidered with 2007 AYOF and each medallist also received a Boxing Kangaroo toy.

Opening Ceremony

Spectacular dancing and uniquely Australian performances produced by The Performing Arts Unit of the NSW Department of Education and Training showcased the talent of the 1,200 young performers from New South Wales Public Schools at the AYOF Opening Ceremony.

The Ceremony incorporated a mix of Olympic protocols including the Parade of Nations, arrival of the Olympic Flag, arrival of the AYOF flame, lighting of the cauldron, and the readings of the AYOF Athletes and Officials oaths.

An audience of over 7,400 witnessed the Opening Ceremony held at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

This was the only opportunity of bringing all the participating nations together ahead of the sport competition to welcome them to the AYOF.
