The Australian Youth Olympic Festival (AYOF) is an initiative of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) following the success of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.  It is the largest Australian multi-sport event for athletes aged 13 to 19 years – the next edition will be held in Sydney from 16 to 20 January 2013.

In keeping with the ideal of preparing young athletes for an Olympic experience, participating teams will stay in a village environment for the duration of the event. As such the AOC is searching for a Manager – Villages and Accommodation to plan, organise and supervise the establishment and operations of AYOF villages and accommodation across a number of Sydney locations.

Ideally you will have previous experience organising and managing event purpose villages (including catering services) and/or accommodation, preferably in the sporting industry. Drawing on these skills you will select, direct and supervise both paid and volunteer staff from the planning stages, through bump-in, bump-out and post event wind-up.

Through excellent planning and communication it is your responsibility to ensure a smooth booking and confirmation process, contract negotiations, compiling and implementing village operational plans and appropriate allocation of approximately 2,500 team  members to villages. You will also have responsibility to plan the entire catering services to schedule meals and beverages for all participants and members of the workforce based in the villages and at the competition venues. This position will lead a team of 30 short term contractors who will be posted at each Village as Duty Managers and also build relationships with all external catering service providers.

This position will give you an opportunity to use your attention to detail, maturity and foresight in providing all AYOF participants with a comfortable and pleasant village atmosphere, allowing them to fully concentrate on their respective events.

To apply for this role please send resume/covering letter to jobs@olympics.com.au.
