Aussie softballers in grand final

9 July 2006

Australia has booked a berth in the final of softball's Canada Cup after beating the Netherlands 2-0.

Australia scored runs in the fourth and sixth inning, while co-captain and pitcher Tanya Harding allowed just three hits to continue the team's unbeaten tournament run.

The final will be played Monday at 11.30am (AEST), with Australia to take on either Japan Elite, host nation Canada, or the Netherlands.

Japan and Canada play their semi-final today with the winner to take on the Netherlands for a place in the final.

In today's game, Australia opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning when Kylie Cronk's sacrifice fly allowed Kate Quigley to score. Belinda Wright then scored in the bottom of the sixth.
