Australia Flag  Gregory Corbitt Hockey

1971 -

Greg Corbitt was a talented hockey forward for Australia, the highlight of his career coming in Barcelona in 1992 when he was a member of the men’s team that won a silver medal. The Australians had placed fourth at the two previous Olympics, losing their bronze medal finals by a single goal on each occasion. In Barcelona the team rolled through their preliminary round, then beat the Netherlands 3-2 in the semi-final. This set up a re-match with Germany, with whom the team had tied 1-1 in a preliminary round match. This time, the Germans proved too strong, winning 2-1. It was Australia’s first men’s hockey medal since 1976.
