The Individual Ice Hockey Skills Challenge will be one of the highlights of Innsbruck 2012. Victorian Sam Hodic was outstanding at the international qualifier in Finland in mid-2011. He needed to place in the top 15 and despite a cut hand he finished 12th to ensure his place. Since then he has stepped up his training on and off the ice to find improvement across all six skills.
The 15-year-old plays for the Melbourne Jets and is keeping the senior men on their game. Sam is determined to make it to the big time and play professionally overseas. His dad has been a big influence on his progress. “When my I was 7 my dad took me down to my local rink and started me skating. Since then I've been on the ice non-stop.”

During the winter season Sammy will have up to 7 sessions on the ice in a week, and off the ice he’ll be working out every day. His whole family loves sport, and have all played there chosen sport when they were younger. Sam’s dad (Jamie) played when he was younger in the 70's and got him into playing ice hockey since I was 7.
I want to play in a Professional league overseas, and also work as a Physiotherapist.
