Mary Hanna

When Mary Hanna competed at the London 2012 Olympic Games she made history. The oldest competitor in the Australian Team at age 57, Hanna competed at her fourth Olympic Games, the first Australian to do so in dressage. Competing on her horse Sancette in London, Hanna finished 9th in the team event and 43rd in the individual event.


Hanna also competed in equestrian at the 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Olympic Games. Hanna’s highest individual dressage result was in Atlanta, riding Mosaic when she finished 24th. She returned at the 2000 Games aboard Limbo and finished 6th in the team event and 34th in the individual event on home soil. Hanna remained with Limbo for the Athens Games where she claimed 39th in the individual event. Riding horses since the age of two, Hanna was a state level pentathlete before committing to equestrian events.
