Lars Kleppich

1967 -

Triple Olympian Kleppich broke an eight-year drought for Australian sailors when he won a bronze medal in the men’s mistral event in Barcelona. In doing so, he also became the first Australian sailboarder to win an Olympic medal. An accomplished international competitor, Kleppich missed selection for Atlanta, but returned to the Olympics in his hometown of Sydney in 2000. Again, he performed admirably, finishing fourth in a field of 36. His final Games was in Athens, where he placed eighth. He has since stayed active in the sport as a coach.
