Kerry Dienelt won two medals as a member of the Australian softball team: bronze in 1996 and bronze in 2000. Born in the Northern Territory, Dienelt was a skilled catcher with respected hitting ability. In Atlanta, the team reached the medal round, where it beat Japan 3-0 but lost for the second time in the tournament to its nemesis, China, 4-2, ensuring the team a bronze medal. In Sydney, the team won six of its seven preliminary round matches, but losses in the final round to Japan and the US resulted in a second successive bronze. Dienelt was honoured for her services to the sport when she was inducted into the Softball Australia Hall of Fame in 2004.
