Jenny Whittle

1973 -

Jennifer ‘Jenny’ Whittle won two medals as a member of the Australian women’s basketball team: bronze in 1996 and silver in 2000. The Queensland centre was a key contributor to the Opals’ success in international events, with strong rebounding and defence a feature of her game. In Atlanta, the team defeated Ukraine 66-56 in the bronze medal final to win Australia’s first Olympic medal in the sport. They went one better in Sydney, thrilling home fans by going undefeated in the tournament until the final, which they lost 76-54 to the United States.
