Jaime Ryan

Jaime Ryan made her Olympic debut in Rio alongside Carrie Smith in the women’s 470 class.

The pair were fierce competitors in the 420 class in previous years before teaming up in the 470 class in 2015. They struggled through much of early 2015 after Smith was sidelined due to illness.

Ryan and Smith, coached by Beijing 2008 Olympic gold medallist Nathan Wilmot, finished the 2015 World Championships regatta in ninth to secure a quota spot for Australia for Rio.

At the Games they had an overall result of 15th, finishing outside the top 10 which went through to the medal race.

Ryan’s brother Will won a silver in the men’s 470 class in Rio.
