Ian Ruff, from the northern New South Wales town of Taree, teamed with Ian Brown to win a bronze medal in the two-man 470 class in 1976. With Ruff as crew and Brown as skipper, the duo won one of the races, but finished behind the West German and Spanish teams in the overall standings.
