Fiona Albert

Training for a marathon with teammate Lucy Stephan, Fiona Albert got the call up for the Rio 2016 Games where she will make her Olympic debut in the women’s eight.

When she started watched rowing for the first time at the 2004 Athens Olympics, she decided to give it a go.

In 2012 she won a silver medal with the women’s coxless four at the U23 World Championships in Trakai, Lithuania.

She began rowing in the eight in 2016, having been the women’s sculling reserve for the Australian Rowing Team in previous years. In 2016, she was a part of the crew that finished third at the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta as they just missed a Rio 2016 spot. The boat was a late call up to the Games after Russia was removed from the competition.

Albert has just completed a dual degree of Arts and Laws at the University of Queensland and is also into ultra-marathons.
