Emma Moffatt competed at her second Olympic Games in London 2012. The Queenslander’s result did not match her sterling performances of previous years, crashing early in the bike leg and retiring from the race. Moffatt made her Olympic debut at the Beijing Games where she finished in third position, winning the bronze medal.
A year after Beijing, Moffatt won her first World Championship and her feat was rewarded with being named the 2009 AIS Athlete of the Year. She emulated teammate Emma Snowsill’s achievement of back-to-back titles when she claimed a podium finish in the final event of the series to again be World Champion in 2010. Her consistently strong performances saw her pre-nominated for the London 2012 Games at the end of 2011.
