Eli Matheson

1983 –

Eli Matheson won a bronze medal for Australia in men’s hockey in 2008. The Sydney striker made an impressive Olympic debut in Beijing. He scored four goals, ranking him among the top ten scorers for the tournament. His haul included a goal in the bronze medal final, in which the Kookaburras defeated the Netherlands 6-2. Matheson was part of the Aussie strike force that outscored its opponents 32-12 in its seven matches. The bronze was Australia’s fifth consecutive men’s hockey medal at the Olympics.
