Dominic Demschar was born in Oberndorf, Austria to an Austrian father and an Australian mother. His dad coached Olympic athletes which sparked his Olympic dream from an early age. He began competing on the international Alpine Skiing circuit in 2008 and in 2012 he represented Australia at the Junior World Championships.
Demschar made his Olympic debut at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games at the age of 20. He had to sit out the Super-G because of a bad back. He then finished 39th in the Giant Slalom and had a DNF on a notoriously difficult day of Slalom.
