Deborah Lovely can take her pick when it comes to Olympic sports. Lovely is a weightlifter by trade but has also represented Australia in discus and hammer throw as a junior, won track cycling medals after taking up the sport for rehabilitation from a knee injury, and been selected for the Australian Rugby Training Squad. At the Olympics, Lovely, the Australian record holder for all +75kg categories, sticks to weightlifting. Lovely placed 13th at Athens 2004 and eighth at Beijing 2008 where she broke the Australian snatch record. She also won bronze in weightlifting at the 2001 East Asian Games in Osaka.
