Athlete Biography

With a father working as a taekwondo instructor, Burak Hasan started learning the sport from the time he could walk. Hasan showed early promise, winning 13 state titles between 1994 and 2004 and five national titles from 2002-2005. In 2004 Hasan was the reigning National champion but he missed selection for the Athens Olympic Team. Hasan turned his focus towards Beijing and participated in training camps with the Korean National team. After winning bronze at the World Olympic Qualifiers in 2007, Hasan was named in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Team where he contested the 58 – 68kg division.
