Alyce Burnett made her Olympic debut in Rio alongside K2 partner Alyssa Bull. The pair won both selection events against London Olympians Naomi Flood and Jo Brigden-Jones to secure their spot.
They made the A-Finals of the K2 500m by finishing third in their semi-final. In the final the duo came eighth in 1:51.915.
Bull and Burnett combined to win bronze at the under-23 World Championship.
Burnett began lifesaving at age 7 and took up kayaking in 2008 to improve her surf ski paddling. After missing out on a spot in the 2012 London Olympics, Burnett walked away from the sport and went back to surf lifesaving for a year, before making a remarkable comeback in 2013.
