Alex Edmondson became a dual Junior World Championship gold medallist in 2011 as he took out the team pursuit and the madison, also making his first senior Australian team in the same year. Edmondson was selected for the London Olympic Games, aged just 18. He was part of the highly fancied Australian Men's Team Pursuit Squad, but with Australia’s depth in the squad he did not get a ride. The Team went on to win the silver medal behind Great Britain.
His older sister Annette placed fourth in the women's team pursuit before going to win bronze in the new omnium event. A remarkable result for the 20-year-old.
