LOCOG Athlete Family and Friends Program

Traditional methods used in the past for athletes to purchase tickets for their family and friends were based on the AOC sourcing tickets.

For London, LOCOG has set up a new ‘Athlete Family and Friends program’ which is aiming to deliver a service that gives each athlete the opportunity to purchase two tickets in which they are competing (with the exception of preliminary sessions in Swimming and Athletics where only one ticket may be offered because of the high number of participating athletes). LOCOCG will hold back 70,000 tickets for sale at a very late sale for this program. The sale and distribution of these tickets will be done though CoSport Australia in conjunction with LOCOG.

Tickets from this program will be made available at the time of selection and/or draws for all ticketed Games session. This will start with the first sport qualification/draw and continue through the entire games, to include tickets to quarter-finals, semi finals and finals, should you progress to this stage of competition.

The Athlete Family and Friends Program will launch in early 2012. More information about this program will be distributed to prospective Team Members as it becomes available from LOCOG.

Ticketing for athletes who are late selections

The Athlete Family and Friends Program will cater for late selections.

Games-time release of knock-out rounds team holds

As has been done at previous Games, tickets for Australian quarter-finals through to final sessions will be sold at the Athletes Village at Games time following their respective qualification.

What to do if your family want more than two tickets to your event or tickets to other sports

You will need to apply for tickets through CoSport when the public sales are launched in early 2011. Register your interest on the CoSport website www.cosport.com for updates on ticket sales dates.  Please ensure that you advise CoSport that you are a 2012 prospective Team Member when placing your ticket order. If demand for tickets is greater than the supply of tickets, a public ballot will be conducted.

How to purchase Opening and Closing Ceremony tickets

You need to apply for Ceremony tickets through CoSport when the public sales are launched in early 2011. If demand for tickets is greater than the supply of tickets, a public ballot will be conducted.

Ticketing during Games for athletes once they finish competing

Your accreditation will allow you access to the sport venue in which you are competing.
If you wish to attend another Games session, a limited number of complimentary ticket requests will be made available through athlete services in the Athletes Village. If athletes wish to guarantee spectating another sport event at the Games, they are recommended to purchase tickets.
