Aidan Roach

Sydneysider Aidan Roach was just nine when he first started playing water polo. In 2009 he debuted for Australia at the World League preliminaries in Adelaide and went on to win a gold medal at the World University Games. Roach showed his star potential at the 2012 World League Finals, scoring five goals and winning selection for his first Olympic Games in London.
After losing three of their first four matches, the Australians knocked off Greece 13-8 to book a spot in the quarter-finals against Serbia. The Aussies took a 7-4 halftime lead before going down 8-11 to the eventual bronze medallists.
Roach's father is former Australian Rugby League representative and current media personality Steve 'Blocker' Roach.
