Jess Ashwood

Athlete Biography

Jessica Ashwood kicked off her Olympic journey when she won two silver medals (400m and 800m freestyle) and two bronze medals (4x100m and 4x200m freestyle) at the 2009 Australian Youth Olympic Festival. In 2011, she finished second in the 1500m freestyle at the Australian Championships before finishing 16th in the event at the World Championships.

Ashwood turned her focus to the Olympic 800m event ahead of the 2012 London Games and finished second behind Kylie Palmer to book her spot in London. Ashwood went on to finish seventh in her heat and missed a place in the Olympic final.
