Tyack wins Gold3 March 2014
ARCHERY: Ryan Tyack from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland is the newest Australian World Champion defeating Viktor Ruban of the Ukraine in an exciting finals match at the 2014 World Indoor Archery Championships at Nimes, France overnight.
In an exciting 5 set match Tyack won 6 sets to 4 with set scores of 29, 28, 30, 29 and 30 against Ruban’s set scores of 27, 29, 30, 29 and 29.
On the way to the final Ryan Tyack defeated Poppenberg from Germany, Valladont from France (2012 World Indoor Champion), Uribe from Mexico and in the Semi Finals team mate Taylor Worth from Australia.
Australia also almost snagged a second medal in the Bronze Medal Match between long time rivals Taylor Worth of Australia and Brady Ellison of the USA.
Taylor Worth from Perth, WA recently moved to Brisbane Qld to train with Ryan Tyack and Archery Australia’s National Coach Ya-Ping Shih.
On his way to the Bronze Medal Match Worth defeated Faucheron from France, Tsynguev from Russia, Kahllund from Germany but was defeated by Ryan Tyack in the semi final to deliver the Bronze medal match-up with Ellison.
Taylor lost the Bronze medal match 6 to 2 to Ellison. The pair have met 5 times before in competition each time Worth defeating Ellison with the most memorable match up at the 2012 London Olympic where Worth triumphed.
